I’ve been a creative all my life. My parents used to buy me tons of creative toys and activities and I would blow through them quickly. At one point, my mom bought me a knitting set just to give my hands something new to do.
I discovered scale modeling in 8th grade and was an aggressive builder all through high school. I even won a few awards in the junior categories of some of the big shows around Southern California. This was the late 80s/early 90s and getting research materials, instructional content, and ways to meet other modelers in person was tough.
I took a break from modeling when I was in college for product design. The break extended until 2009 when I moved back to Austin and needed something to do with myself after my tiny toddler went to bed. Scale modeling came back to me and after a trip to the local hobby shop to stock up, I was back at it. I’ve been going hard ever since. My last 5 homes have all had a well stocked hobby room/space. You can check out the Galleries section for more pics of my workbench.
I love to super detail, I love to research how to make a near perfect (ish) replica of the model I’m working on. I love great storytelling. I love unique subjects and vehicles. And apparently, I’m a master in not finishing anything. But I sure love this hobby!
This blog is meant to be a means of documenting my work, blasting out my thoughts on modeling and life, and sharing photos from museums and contests. I’m glad you’re here!
